Business English training at various large companies in the Hamburg area (including the following industries: Telecommunications, Publishing, Energy, Financial, Government, Entertainment, Construction, Call Centre, Pharma, etc.). This involves a combination of language and skills training covering all key areas required for effective international communication: presentations; negotiations; telephoning; inter-cultural topics as well as European issues.

Set up an operation in Continental Europe for an entrepreneurial company to introduce the ISI Emerging Markets service, delivered via the Internet, to corporates, financial institutions and governments. Established effective ways to increase product awareness in a traditionally conservative market, by strategic liaisons with leading media e.g. N-TV.

European Sales and Marketing Manager

Employed to set up a European publisher/distributor network for the sale of North American legal and accounting hard copy and CD ROM products. Researched the market from scratch and made contact to over 50 publishers within these fields and developed a strategic business plan for the company.

1994 - 1996 ADP Financial Information Services, Hamburg
Sales Manager

Set up office in Germany to sell and market financial data services to financial institutions. Responsible for Northern German business and subsequently all of Germany.

Oversaw a pilot project with a leading broker, which subsequently changed their worldwide supplier of market data and trade execution to ADP. This was a worldwide multi million-dollar deal.

1992 - 1994 Knight-Ridder Financial, Hamburg
Sales Manager

Asked by Knight-Ridder and their exclusive agent in Germany, to run a new operation in Hamburg, to intensify their efforts in North German market and to build up image of the company.

Over next 2 years increased staff by 8 people and managed German wide sales and customer staff in Düsseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg. Business grew from $300.000 to $1.2million in Northern Germany alone.

Introduced new service into Northern Germany, which resulted in 30% increase in sales and was later, under my management rolled out to the rest of Germany.

Through building a marketing database, networking with other offices, laid the platform for Knight-Ridder in Germany, to go from being an unknown company, to becoming a household name within 5 years.

1990-1991 Knight-Ridder Financial, London
Sales & Marketing Manager European Agencies

Managed all European business partners in Holland, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Norway and Sweden. Target revenue grew from $4m to $ 7m within 18 months.

1998-1990 UK Marketing Manager

Responsibility for the generation, implementation and management of strategic UK marketing plans.

Created an ambitious marketing plan and a focused customer service programme, which led to 30% growth and to the company being voted the No. 1 financial information vendor in the City, by the Financial Times, for 2 years in a row.
